Lens Loupe
I Need a 4x5 camera for school?
I need a 4x5 camera for school and was wondering where I could find one and supplies also. Like a 150mm lens, film holder, film, bellows ruler, loupe, etc...
Also I am thinking about getting the Canon EOS 50D SLR anybody have any reviews for me?
The best option is to buy used (unless you happen to have a few grand you want to spend on a camera). Ebay is OK, but you may get frustrated with the folks sniping your buy away in the last seconds.
Places like KEH specialize in used equipment, and B&H Photo/Video has a pretty good used section. Links are listed below. For film, you can either get it from B&H or you can get it from Freestyle Photo. Freestyle's Arista re-branded film is good stuff at a great price. These are the places I've had the best luck with.
As to the 50D, I have a 30D and quite enjoy it. I'm sure the 50D is only better. The folks at DPReview.com have very comprehensive reviews and show how it measures up to the competition in a fairly unbiased way.

My 4x5 camera was about $400. My 135mm lens was around $350. Film holders were about $15 a piece. My loupe I got free when I bought a 20 pack of 35mm Fuji Provia. I don't have a bellows ruler, but I did make a stop compensation guide using magnetic tape and a sharpy. A box of 50 sheets of Arista.EDU Ultra 200 is $26 and happens to be one of my favorite films. It adds up, but it is also terribly addicting.
